|
ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open to professional
and amateur artists 18 years and older. Photographs must be
original, completed within the last two years, and not
previously shown in this competition. Work must be
ready for hanging with identification labels securely attached.
Your work will remain on display for one month and will be
eligible for sale if so indicated on the label. A nonrefundable
fee of $10 per entry ($5 for students) is charged and a 20% commission will
go to the Foothills Arts Council from each sale. |

|
Dennis Kiel received a Bachelor
of Fine Arts degree in Graphic Design from Ohio University,
Athens, Ohio and a Master of
Arts degree in Art History from the University of
Cincinnati. For 24 years, he was the Associate Curator of Prints, Drawings, and
Photographs at the Cincinnati Art Museum. During
that time, he curated many exhibitions, including The
Hollywood Photographs of George Hurrell (later a traveling
show for SITES), The Human Experience: Photographs by
Nicholas Nixon,
Altered States (co-curated
with the Weston Art Gallery,
Cincinnati) and
Borrowed Time: The Photograph as Music Album Cover. For five
years, he taught a class in the history of photography at
Northern Kentucky University,
Highland Heights, Kentucky.

Since July 2007, he has been the
Chief Curator of The Light Factory Contemporary Museum of
Photography and Film. He is currently organizing two exhibitions
for the 2008 season: a light generated show titled Into the
Mystic and The Day of Small Things, a mid-career
retrospective for photographer Michael Wilson, who is known
primarily for his portraits of nationally known musicians.
